My dissertation proposal is on novice knowledge engineering (NKE). NKE is an application of expert systems in the classroom. This study proports to replicate study done by R. Owston and H. Wideman in 1988. The idea here being that if a known study is replicated with widening that other hypothesis about NKE will emerge. Not much is known about the effects of NKE on the middle school math environment. Since this study will work with 6th grades it will look for hypothesis about the educational benefits of NKE on middle school kids.
